To want in hell, that had on earth such store. EVIL ANGEL. Gave ear to me, GOOD ANGEL. O Faustus, if thou hadst given ear to me, In yonder throne, like those bright-shining saints, And now, poor soul, must thy good angel leave thee: EVIL ANGEL. Now, Faustus, let thine eyes with horror stare [Exit. The throne ascends.] But thou didst love the world. In what resplendent glory thou hadst sit [254] GOOD ANGEL. O, thou hast lost celestial happiness, The jaws of hell are open [255] to receive thee. And triumph'd over hell! That hast thou lost; Hadst thou kept on that way, Faustus, behold, On burning forks; there bodies boil [256] in lead; Into that vast perpetual torture-house: EVIL ANGEL. Nothing, but vex thee more, Innumerable joys had follow'd thee! [Music, while a throne descends.] Hadst thou affected sweet divinity, Pleasures unspeakable, bliss without end GOOD ANGEL. O, what will all thy riches, pleasures, pomps, And now must taste hell-pains [253] perpetually. There are the Furies tossing damned souls Enter GOOD ANGEL and EVIL ANGEL at several doors. Avail thee now? Hell or the devil had had no power on thee: [Hell is discovered.]
