Essays may be about dad, or any other man who plays a special role in your life. All entries must include a YMCA media waiver. For details, contact the YMCA at 734-453-2904 or on Facebook. YMCA contest focuses on special dads. Essays must be 250-300 words, with youth ages 8-17 eligible. Entries are due by Friday, May 15, and may be mailed to: Plymouth Family YMCA, 248 S. Union St., Plymouth, MI 48170, or emailed to Sage Hegdal at shegdal@ymcadetroit.org. Entrants are invited to train with RunDTP, with details at RunDTP.com. Three winners will be chosen and notified Friday, May 22. Winners will each receive a “team” entry into the YMCA Father’s Day Run. The contest is offered in partnership with RunDTP, a local walking/running group, which will provide lunch. The Plymouth Family YMCA is offering a “Why My Dad Is Special” Father’s Day Run Essay Contest. Entries should answer the question, “Why is my dad so special that I’d like to run a 5K with him?”
